STRATEGIC NARRATIVE INSIGHTS

Damn Good Advice ( for people with talent)

Bonjour,

Here are 5 things I thought were worth sharing this month:

1 - Telling isn’t always advising

Everybody agrees that enquiring is more important than telling if you want to help someone change. But very few people practice this art like Rick Torseth. He interviewed me on his 10,000 Swamp Leaders podcast earlier in November. You can listen here.

2 - The courtship never stops

In a marriage or with your clients, routine is dangerous. It’s easy to take each other for granted. It’s easy to let other competitive alternatives get on their radar. So I wrote a gratefulness post on LinkedIn to remind us that building successful long-term relationships with clients takes consistent work.

3 - What blocks us from being authentic?

Say the thing you are afraid to say. Speak the truth. We know it’s a good idea, but it’s not always easy. My colleague Jen Yang just published a short Youtube video with four reasons that helped me reflect on how I could build a more authentic consulting business.

4 - SN Essential Course

The holidays are getting closer. Treat yourself to a delightful present, richly filled with delicious food for thought, without gaining weight. Get my Strategic Narrative Essential online course. You’ll love it!

5 - Damn Good Advice ( for people with talent)

We said goodbye to art director George Lois on November 18th. He was one of my idols. I stole many pieces of damn good advice from him, and I will never forget him as an expert on a mission to rid the world of “vanilla” advertising and stupidity.

But if you don’t like it, absolutely no worries, please let me know. I won’t do it next time.
